Spear's Farm began in 1933 when Wallace and Maude Spear moved to Nobleboro, seeking to "live off the land" during the Depression. What started with one cow and a few chickens evolved. By the 1980s, the farm grew its dairy herd and began selling vegetables, including sweet corn.
In 2009, a significant shift occurred: the milking herd was sold, and the farm focused on expanding vegetable production (now over 250 acres) while transitioning to raising its own beef cattle. Today, this family operation spans over 600 acres, offering high-quality produce and All-Natural beef, sold at two retail stands, farmers' markets, and wholesale.
